Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform
Using the platform enable us to back up from the various vendors in our environment to one location and have it save in an immutable instance.
Pros
- Access to our storage array to utilize snap shots from it directly
- customize schedules of the tasks associated with our stratagies
- provide integration with our hypervisor

- Reporting for compliance could be more robust.
- details of the backup steps could provide a more robust insight for troubleshooting

- In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads

We protect over 250 VDI and over 120 servers using Veeam Data Platform. We originally only seen ourselves using it for essential servers. It was easy to add more workloads and with de-dup we had the room to spare. It also is able to integrate directly to the storage arrays we have to utilize the snapshots that they take giving us even more restore options.

We were growing as a business and had built a new facility so we needed to ensure that we were able to meet the demand of our staff and business. As years have passed we have continued to expand and Veeam Data Platform has allowed us to continue to keep up with the changes for minimal cost differences.
We have a minimal cloud presence but I'm sure as we grow Veeam Data Platform will meet the need as we are able to use several of the functions we use in our private cloud for the public space.
We are just implementing this solution, in the past we had taken a more traditional approach and backed up the file shares as whole servers with indexing.
We have always gotten the use and features promised by Veeam Data Platform where other providers either couldn't deliver or didn't have the feature set. Veeam Data Platform tends to under promise and over deliver.

Using Veeam Data Platform
4 - IT operations and security operations are the teams that directly interact with the platform. This affects the entire organization though. Through usage of this we have recovered servers, applications and single files at the request of others. This helps to keep teams functioning at the levels that our business needs for continuity.
4 - Due to the training that Veeam has available there was no skill set that i had to have to use the platform. We took individuals with general IT knowledge and were able to put them into the administration of it quickly. It was helpful to have people who were familiar with Virtual environments for us but not required.

We needed a system that could be stood up quickly and operated by anyone on our team. As we were still building out our IT team, we had the potential of the administrator needing to be replaced and the new person would need to be able to support the poduct quickly. VVeeam was able to provide that for us.
Look for someone who was able to back up all the different data types and medium we had.

Change management was minimal - Utilizing the tagging feature for our virtual machine to ensure items get added during creation or removed during decommissioning has made it easier to use the platform but this wasn't something we used until after we had stood it up.

We have to have our systems up and running for the type of business we are in and having support adds a layer of security to that initiative. We are in a highly competitive market for our business and if we are not performing our guests will go somewhere else to get what they want.
We had a server issue with regard to our storage that powered the platform internally. The support team jumped on to help diagnose the issue and get resolved.
